The aim of Clinical Audit is to encourage individual GDPs to self-examine different aspects of their practice, to implement improvements where the need is identified and to re-examine, from time to time, those areas which have been audited to ensure that a high quality of service is being maintained or further improved.
The GDP, not an outside body, audits his/her own practice. The original 2001 government document laying down the rules for Clinical Audit and Peer Review is available here. as a pdf file. |
