    Immunisation of Practice Staff

The protocols of immunisation were discussed covering which members of staff are required to be immunised, which diseases staff should be immunised against, the efficacy of immunisation, and the current regime for immunisation. The discussion led on to the fact that guidelines are not clearly outlined and that variation occurs locally and worldwide with immunization protocols as continuing views change.

Points raised were how staff records should be kept and updated for all staff, the screening of new staff and what duties they can and cannot perform. The implementation of a reminder system for boosters when required and this sidetracked to needle stick injuries and how and where these are dealt with.
